Kenilworth, NJ: For the first time in 112 years, the New Jersey State Open was contested at a public facility.  In preparation, Galloping Hill underwent a renovation in early 2014 which included the installation of Better Billy Bunkers throughout.  Architect Steve Weisser, ASGCA of Rees Jones, Inc. played an instrumental role in the project.  BBB licensed installer Total Turf Golf Services was the general contractor while LaBar Golf Renovations also assisted with the BBB polymer installation.  We are proud that BBB was entrusted to play a part in such an exciting and historic event.  Congratulations to all those involved - especially superintendent Russ Harris and his staff.  Well done!

Epsom, UK: Royal Automobile Club located south south-west of London recently completed phase one of a three phase bunker renovation featuring the BBB Method. Founded in 1897 and rich in history, RAC is seeing an exciting time it has not previously experienced with state of the art improvements to their golf facilities. After testing several bunker methods with numerous sands, Head Greenkeeper Lee Strutt, CGCS, MG, chose BBB for its ease of installation, price point and proven track record. Lee worked hand in hand with Campbell Golf Associates to install 21,000 square feet of gravel and BBB application in three days.

Nashville, TN: ASGCA architects Jeff Blume and Jerry Lemons collaborated on the recent bunker renovation at Old Hickory Country Club outside of Nashville, TN.  Originally built in 1926, all bunkers were completely reshaped.  The addition, removal, and repositioning of bunkers restored a classic look and feel to the facility.  The Better Billy Bunker method was utilized in all bunkers on the project and approximately 1/3 of the bunkers now feature revetted faces.  This cutting edge application provides an authentic revetted look.  Unlike traditional stacked sod bunkers, this application provides a long lasting solution.

BBB Licensed Installer Fore Front Construction teamed with Dan Johnson, GCSAA and his in-house staff to ensure the project was completed on time and under budget.  The performance, playability, and classic look have received rave reviews from both members and guests alike.

2016 Championships Trust BBB

As the PGA, LPGA, and Champions Tours head into the home stretch, we are proud that BBB continues to be trusted as the bunker construction method by numerous host courses.  We'd like to take this opportunity to tip our cap to the fine superintendents, staffs, and volunteers who have made and will make the following 2016 Tour and USGA events at BBB facilities possible:

Several North Carolina Facilities Wrap up BBB Projects

Many courses have recently completed Better Billy Bunker projects and have joined the list of happy clients throughout the Carolinas.  A few are highlighted below:

Durham, NC - East Coast Athletics, based in Virginia Beach, VA., has wrapped up the first phase at Old Chatham Golf Club of 100,000 s/f to Better Billy Bunkers. This exclusive Rees Jones design is one of the finest in North Carolina. Starting in 2013 Superintendent Brian Powell, CGCS, of OCGC sought out a way to renovate their aging bunkers. Researching methods and testing different sands, The Better Billy Bunker Method was picked for the two-part renovation. According to their staff, their bunkers have performed wonderfully during a very wet 2016.

Pinehurst, NC - The Dogwood course at the Country Club of North Carolina is preparing to reopen following an extensive renovation under the direction of architect Kris Spence.  Golf Course Services served as the BBB licensed installer on the project which included the installation of BBB in all bunkers.  Superintendent Ron Kelly and his staff are completing the grow-in.  The changes have improved an already impressive course!

Holly Springs, NC - BBB licensed installer Landscapes Unlimited completed a bunker renovation at 12 Oaks in Holly Springs, NC in early 2016.  Superintendent James Reese reports that the Better Billy Bunkers have hardly been touched by maintenance crews since installation.  Having recently opened their new clubhouse and a greens renovation currently ongoing, the members at 12 Oaks essentially have a brand new club!

Charlotte, NC - The renovation of all greens and bunkers (with BBB) is nearing completion at Cedarwood Country Club in Charlotte.  Golf Course Services is the contractor for the project and the new bunkers, complete with BBB and Zorro Zoysia surrounds, look fantastic.  After already seeing several heavy rain events, superintendent, Paul Query, reports the bunkers have performed as advertised....very little sand movement and no contamination.

What a Difference a Renovation Makes

Seeing is believing!  Some great comparison photos of Better Billy Bunkers vs non-BBB

Bayville GC, Virginia Beach, VA - Picture taken between 1st and 2nd phase - back nine HAD BBB, front nine did not.  Work completed by Total Turf Services.

Trump National Bedminster, Bedminster, NJ - 2017 host of US Women's Open.  Renovation completed by LaBar Golf. Top picture from 2016 with BBB. Bottom picture from 2013 pre-BBB.

Rivertowne Country Club, Charleston, SC - After 4" overnight rain event - fairway bunker is non-BBB, greenside is BBB.

Hillview Country Club, Franklin, IN - Greenside WITH BBB, fairway without.  Work completed by Duininck Golf.
