Kilmarlic Golf Club Seeks Assistant in Training (AIT)

Kilmarlic Golf Club is located in the renowned Outer Banks Region of North Carolina.   Sitting adjacent to the Albermarle Sound, golf course architect Tom Steele created a unique experience nestled amongst coastal pine forests and 500 Acres of Ducks Unlimited Conservation marshlands.   In 2017, the management embarked on the task of elevating Kilmarlic from already being one of the tourists’ favorite places to play while on vacation, to becoming a stay and play golf resort destination.    The first phase of this process was the construction of an 18-unit Golf Village located on the property.  This village consists of 18 “beach style” golf cottages, a lighted putting green, and a 4-hole short course with Champion Bermuda greens.   Future expansions of this concept are on the horizon and the agronomy team at Kilmarlic is looking to mimic this growth with the addition of new members eager to grow with us.

The AIT position at Kilmarlic is designed to be a 2-3-year program with the first year consisting of in-depth experiences in all areas of golf course maintenance, and key focus in four areas.   (1) Staff Leadership (2) Responsible Chemical and Fertilizer Applications (3) Irrigation installation, repair, and preventative maintenance and (4) Landscape Design, installation, and maintenance.        Upon completion of the first year, based on the needs of our facility and desire of the employee, he or she will take on a specific role in one of the three areas above with all positions focused on continued leadership development.   The goal of this program is to ready the individual for advancement in his or her career and placement of an elevated position either here at our facility or another course.

The ideal candidate must possess and willingness to learn, passion for our industry, and ability to effectively communicate with others.

Ideally, the candidate should have some formal education in Turf or Horticulture, golf course experience, and either possess a Pesticide Applicators license in NC or SC or be willing to actively pursue one upon employment at Kilmarlic.
