Lonesome Pine Country Club is seeking a Superintendent in training to understudy and take over the job of Head Golf Course Superintendent.  Lonesome Pine is located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.  The “Pine”, as the membership calls it, is a par 71 measuring 5762 from the back tees and was established in 1924.  The Tees and fairways are Brute Bermuda grass and zoysia grass with the greens covered in Penn Cross bentgrass.  The roughs are a mix of Kentucky blue, fescue, and Bermuda that has taken over through the years.  The Front nine holes along with number eighteen were renovated in 1988 by Jon Lafoy.

Duties and Responsibilities
Planning and supervising the maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, and schedules work and supervises the employees and the use of the equipment.
Operates equipment and performs a variety of golf course conditioning and functions to include but not limited to greens care, tee care, bunkers, and fairways.
Able to recognize, spray, treat, and control turf diseases and fungus.
Able to perform and supervise basic equipment maintenance and repairs
Able to maintain and prepared the clubs swimming pool.
Maintains a clean and safe work area and environment at all time in the ground, maintenance building, and all related work areas.
2 or 4 year turf degree preferred but nor required
Preferred experience
Valid driver’s license 
Has currently or must be able to obtain Virginia spray license within 45 days
