VGCSA Congratulates Marc Muniz on Earning CGCS Designation
VGCSA is proud to recognize Marc Muniz, Director of Agronomy at The Golf Club at Lansdowne, on earning his Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS) designation through the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
The CGCS designation is the highest level of certification in the golf course management profession, held by fewer than 25% of GCSAA Class A members. Achieving this distinction requires a combination of advanced education, industry experience, and successful completion of a rigorous assessment and examination process.
For Marc, the journey to certification reflects years of hands-on experience and a commitment to continuous improvement.
“There was a stretch during my time in the Mid-Atlantic where we were managing intense summer pressure—disease, heat, and member expectations all colliding at once. It would have been easy to simply react day-to-day, but instead, I leaned into a more structured, data-driven approach: tracking moisture, clipping yields, and making proactive decisions.
That moment really defined my growth as a superintendent. It reinforced that being a professional in this industry means being disciplined, prepared, and accountable. Earning my CGCS is a reflection of those experiences and the standard I strive to uphold every day.”
We congratulate Marc on this outstanding achievement and his continued commitment to excellence in the profession.
